How long has Valpar been in business?
The company was formed in 1973 and started by building work samples. In 1983, it introduced the first integrated skills-assessment, database search, and report-writing software product, called MESA. Today, Valpar offers a full line of work samples and software for all types of skills assessment and career matching.
What about validity?
All Valpar products were developed using stringent standards. Most of the products are tied directly to the job analysis methodology described in the U.S. Department of Labor's Revised Handbook for Analyzing Jobs. As a result, each assessment product has a list of scaled work "factors" that clients demonstrate when they perform the exercise well enough. The lists of these work factors have been content-validated by experts in psychology, education, and vocational rehabilitation. Valpar makes extensive use of MTM (Methods-Time Measurement) industrial engineering standards.
